SPC & LVT Flooring Sourcing from China — Specification Guide and Sourcing Notes
Flooring Sourced from China — SPC, LVT, Engineered Wood, Laminate, and Parquet
China is the world’s largest producer and exporter of flooring products. SPC (Stone Plastic Composite), LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile/Plank), engineered wood, laminate, and parquet are all manufactured at scale in Guangdong, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu — the three main flooring production clusters in China.
HSY Sourcing is based in Foshan, Guangdong. We source flooring for property developers, interior contractors, importers, and hospitality projects that need factory-direct pricing with proper quality verification and consolidated shipping alongside other building material categories.
What Flooring Types We Source
SPC Flooring (Stone Plastic Composite)
SPC is the fastest-growing flooring category in international markets. Its rigid limestone-composite core makes it dimensionally stable, 100% waterproof, and suitable for installation over uneven subfloors without acclimatisation. Available in wood-look and stone-look surface designs. Produced primarily in Guangdong and Zhejiang. Key specification variables: wear layer thickness (0.3mm, 0.5mm, 0.7mm for commercial grade), total plank thickness (4mm–8mm), underlay type (pre-attached cork or IXPE foam), and locking system (click-lock for floating installation or glue-down for LVT).
LVT Flooring (Luxury Vinyl Tile / Plank)
LVT is a flexible vinyl product available in tile and plank formats, used for glue-down installation in commercial environments — offices, retail, healthcare, and hospitality back-of-house. More acoustically comfortable underfoot than rigid SPC. Produced in Guangdong and Zhejiang. Key variables: wear layer (0.3mm standard commercial, 0.5mm+ heavy commercial), overall thickness (2mm–5mm), and FloorScore or GREENGUARD certification for indoor air quality compliance.
Engineered Wood Flooring
A real wood veneer surface (0.6mm–4mm) bonded to a cross-ply plywood core. More dimensionally stable than solid timber; suitable for installation over underfloor heating. Produced in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Shandong. Key variables: species (oak, walnut, ash, teak), veneer thickness, surface finish (UV lacquer, hardwax oil, brushed), and plywood core layer count.
Laminate Flooring
A printed surface layer bonded to an HDF (high-density fibreboard) core, protected by a melamine wear layer. Visual appearance mimics wood or stone. Produced extensively in Guangdong and Zhejiang. Key variables: AC rating (AC3 for residential, AC4 for commercial, AC5 for heavy commercial), thickness (8mm, 10mm, 12mm), and formaldehyde emission class (E1 or CARB Phase 2 for export markets).
Parquet and Solid Wood Flooring
Solid timber flooring in strip, plank, or mosaic tile formats. Species range from oak and teak to exotic hardwoods. Requires acclimatisation before installation and is not suitable for wet areas or underfloor heating in most configurations. Produced in Shandong and Jiangsu. Key variables: species, dimensions, surface finish, and moisture content at time of shipping (target 6%–10% for most destination markets).
Where Flooring Is Produced in China
Most SPC and LVT flooring exports originate from Guangdong, Zhejiang (particularly Jiaxing and Huzhou), and Jiangsu (Suzhou and Changzhou). Foshan and the broader Guangdong region produce both SPC and LVT alongside building materials in the same manufacturing corridor — which means flooring can be consolidated at our Foshan warehouse alongside tiles, furniture, cabinetry, and sanitary ware for a single container shipment.
Engineered wood and laminate production is concentrated in Zhejiang and Jiangsu. For project orders that include flooring from these provinces alongside Foshan-sourced building materials, we collect from all suppliers and consolidate at our warehouse before shipping.
Compliance and Certification
Flooring sold into international markets commonly requires:
Formaldehyde emission compliance — E1 for European markets, CARB Phase 2 for the United States, E0 for buyers with strict indoor air quality requirements. Laminate and engineered wood flooring uses HDF or plywood cores that are bound with adhesives — emission class must be specified before production.
FloorScore certification — an indoor air quality standard recognised for LEED, WELL, and BREEAM green building projects. Required by some commercial and institutional buyers.
Slip resistance — R-value (German DIN standard) or Pendulum test value (UK/Australian standard) for commercial and wet-area applications. Not all flooring is tested; must be specified and verified.
ISTA packaging — for flooring sold through e-commerce channels or FBA, packaging to ISTA 6A or 3A standard is required by major platforms. This needs to be specified at the order stage.
We specify the relevant compliance requirements in purchase contracts and request test reports or certification documentation from factories before confirming supplier selection.
